Date Night @ Ace Gallery
Saturday night, Mr. Forstadt and I had an event at the Ace Gallery in Beverly Hills. Rather than opting for a LBD, I wore a frilled sleeve bodysuit and pants… even better, they were super budget-friendly and cost less than $45 combined! I paired them with some Target heels, a thrifted vintage clutch, and a layered lariat necklace to break up the black!
Gingham = Summer
Gingham is just the ultimate summer pattern. You can practically wear your picnic cloth and still look perfectly daytime chic because it really is that effortless and easy to wear.
Vests and Volume
A few work meetings and then I’m off to run some errands before skipping town for my bestie’s wedding!
Spring Plaid
Happy Friday! Quick post today…
With this warm weather, I’ve been opting for lightweight cotton dresses for an easy work look paired with some perforated mid heel oxfords (again, keeping things breezy!). Hope you all have a great weekend.
Country Ladylike
Off-the-shoulder tops with ruching like this one make me think of an old cowboy film. So it only seemed natural to pair it with my western-inspired ankle boots and some fringe!
My FFF
It stands for Fast Fashion Frock. I recently had a discussion with a friend about fast fashion (this friend, who works in the fashion industry, is well on his way to becoming a “luxury designer super snob” though we both had similar modest Japanese-in-greater-LA upbringings). If he knew that I was wearing Forever 21 and H&M while we were sipping our super snob drinks at Urth Cafe (which, I won’t lie, I LOVE), he probably would have left me there. But while I appreciate the aesthetics and superb quality of Louis Vuitton and Louboutins, I am a huge fan of the H&Ms and Zaras of the world because, while they may not last a lifetime and are made overseas in mass quantities, they are on-trend and affordable for the masses.
This dress was $19.99. How can you hate on that?!?

Sushi Dinner
While I get that it’s rare for a heavily-worn bargain buy to last more than one season (because, let’s face it, most of the time affordable fashion = disposable), I stand by the fact that timeless clothes and investment pieces can last surprisingly long if properly cared for.
Back to Work
Alright, Mondays are always tough, but it’s supposed to be a beautiful day, so I pulled out my sunny yellow bag and my favorite black and white pants to add a little pizzaz to a day full of meetings!
