Quick post today… it’s holiday party season and this is what I wore to last night’s event! A designer collaboration dress and designer shoes, but with super-affordable accessories!

4 Shades of Denim
I didn’t like denim as a child – I thought it was too restrictive and the seams felt uncomfortable! (But how could you blame me… I grew up wearing leggings every day because I was too scrawny to wear pants without elastic waists!). Fast forward 20+ years and here I am wearing denim on denim. Not sure what happened, but I know the lovely shades of blue now have a permanent spot in my wardrobe.
Walk This Way
I’m in full-blown Christmas mode. I come home to boxes on my doorstep just about every evening, I check online sales first thing in the morning, and I have been to nearly every shopping area in the greater Los Angeles area. We snapped these pics in Beverly HIlls when I was on my way to shopping paradise!
Brrrrr!… Furrrr!
It’s pretty damn cold to wear a silk dress this time of year, but I was so excited when this one arrived, I couldn’t help but wear it out the first chance I got!
Gettin’ in the holiday spirit
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! Now that it has passed, we can officially begin prepping for the winter holidays! This weekend, I got a jump on my holiday shopping by joining the Black Friday madness with my sister-in-law in Vegas, crashing an amazing sample sale in LA, and doing a whole lot of online purchasing! (nothing beats markdowns on top of sales with free shipping!) Need some gifting inspiration or looking for something in particular? Write me and I’ll try to make your holiday wishes come true!
Patent leather and cutout booties
When the Marni for H&M collection came out in March 2012, I was so excited to buy some of the pieces… until I saw the prices. Sure, it was just a fraction of Marni’s usual prices, but the $200 pricetag on this patent leather jacket prevented me from lining up at the store at 7am opening day. Instead, I took the extremely patient approach and waited until a NWT item in my size (ebay talk for “new with tags”) popped up for $45 last week. I obviously snatched it up promptly and thus, deem this another very proud “debit” outfit.
Angora and leather
How cool is this angora and mesh swirl sweater?!? It’s a part of H&M’s autumn/winter collection and is what I consider to be “fancy H&M” (over $40 and very runway-esque). I paired it with some vegan leather (aka faux-leather/pleather) pieces to keep the outfit edgy but still very affordable.
[Rich] People-Watching
The weather has been strangely warm this past week, so I put my tall leather boots on a temporary hold and turned to an airy, short-sleeve top and my favorite pair of lightweight, coated jeans. Just the perfect mix of polished and comfy for a stroll through Beverly Hills!
50
The past few months since I started Catching Couture have flown by and here I am at my 50th post. I wanted to do something a little special, so I enlisted the extraordinary Taylor Kent and team for this shoot!
Thank you so much for reading!
Bring out the boots!
Sure it has been in the 80s in Los Angeles the past couple days, but that can’t stop me from wearing my fall boots!
