This little belly controls me. Last night I went home and cooked for 4 hours straight (I ended up making two meals because I couldn’t make up my mind!). Luckily this flowy dress comfortably accommodates my newly-found roundness and makes me feel… well… a little more glamorous!

On Target for Summer
This color blocked outfit is none other than a compilation of Target finds. Some designer collaborations, some maternity, and some must-have wardrobe staples!
For Love and Lemons SKIVVIES Party
Last Thursday I attended the second annual For Love and Lemons SKIVVIES lingerie party where their new collection of super-sexy lace and mesh pieces were put on live display (you can also check out my coverage of their launch last year here).
Road trip!
A desert road trip calls for a comfy tank, flats, and shorts with just the right amount of give (luckily all maternity pants are stretchy around the waist!). All of these pieces were bargains, from the $29 sandals to the $25 shorts. The purse was a Wasteland find and the tank was another recent Anthro sale score.
Wrapped in Ribbon
A few weeks ago I came across this non-maternity tunic while perusing the sale section at Anthropologie. The length was perfect to pair with maternity pants or leggings, and I love that this bright pink stripe across my belly is like ribbon on a present!
Pssst! I’ve got a secret to share…
It has been very hard to keep this from you (think strategic posing, placement of accessories, and ruffles/oversized clothing) but I am embarking on a new chapter in my life… motherhood! Adam and I are expecting our first child at the end of November and I am so incredibly excited! (that puts me at 19 weeks if you’re trying to do the math).
Now, in case you’re wondering, this isn’t going to be the end of Catching Couture. Rather, it’s quite the opposite. I see this as a new challenge… or a temporary blog game perhaps. My goals is to hack my normal/existing wardrobe and make 80% of my non-maternity clothes work over the next five months with the addition of select, affordable, maternity bottoms (think Target, H&M, etc). Back to my “’til death do us part!” philosophy, I like to keep my clothes for a very long time, so I’m not so keen on spending $$$ on pieces that I can only wear for a few months. I’d rather spend my money on some hot outfits I can wear post-delivery when I get my normal body back!
So let’s see how this goes…
If you are also expecting, I hope my coming posts can bring you new ideas and inspiration (as well as some mutual commiseration!). And if you’re not, no worries… a lot of my outfits will be maternity-free so you can still shop the looks and get inspired.
Alright baby, let’s do this.

Happy 4th!
One year ago today I started Catching Couture to share my shopping tricks, bargain finds, and styling tips. It has been so much fun watching the blog grow and mature… and I am so excited to see how the next phase unfolds. Be on the lookout for some big changes next week! Can’t wait to share them. :)
Have a very happy 4th of July,
michelle
True Grit
Kansas City, MO is home to amazing barbecue and some unbelievable locations for photo shoots. This area, known as the West Bottoms, is the real-life version of many backlots in Hollywood – abandoned buildings, train tracks, truck yards, and structurally unsound bridges. The perfect playground to show off my rugged denim!
Summer Sunshine
Summer officially begins tomorrow, so I busted out my sunshiny-yellow dress and my brightest purse for a fun, ready-to-wear-out look!
Gym Class
Hi! Quick post today… I was feeling aqua and grey (with snakeskin and perforated details!) for today’s sporty casual outfit…
