Casual Friday

homepage

Today’s outfit is all about balancing proportions. This super-slim top is offset by the loose shorts, and the long hemline of the shorts (which can make legs look dangerously short) is offset by the lengthening heels. Throw on a cream blazer and it’s perfect for a casual Friday at work.

A Pop of Pattern

homepage

One of the things that I love about capes is that they provide some warmth, but show off just enough arm (crucial when you’re wearing a bold pattern and have colorful trim that you don’t want to hide beneath sleeves!). Today I let the geometric print take the lead amongst subtle black textures and little pops of colorful accents.

My Kind of Sweater Dress

homepage

When people talk about sweater dresses, I normally think of big, bulky, knee-length numbers that make you sweat and itch. Not this one. It’s skimpy, it’s scandalous… and it’s totally up my alley.  :)

Channeling Tommy H

homepage

I don’t know how else to describe this outfit other than “very preppy and Tommy Hilfiger… but much less expensive.” It’s got a little H&M, Zara, and H&M’s Zara-like older sister, COS, which just opened in Beverly Hills last month! Pretty exciting.

Burgundy Boots in Beverly Hills

homepage

I consider these burgundy bad boys to be my perfect polished leather ankle boot for fall. Low enough heels to wear all day (even during pregnancy), but enough to give you a little height. I also experimented with some more nail art (color blocking, metallic striping tape, AND pyramid studs!) and stacked on some gold accent rings to draw a little extra attention.

Teddy Bears and Holographic Shine

homepage

Today’s look is a mix of bargains and some debit-worthy accessories. My mom found this top for me at Marshalls and though it’s not maternity, it has the perfect silhouette to work throughout pregnancy and beyond. I also love the shell buttons, pleating, and embroidery. To add a little whimsical element, I wore my oversized teddy bear necklace (yes, it is made of needlepoint plastic canvas, and yes, something like that can only be found at a Japanese boutique!) and my holographic purse for some shine.

Nomadic Prints

homepage

I’d like to preface this post by letting you know that everything I am wearing is quite old and no longer for sale (I hate nothing more than having my heart set on something only to find out that it’s sold out everywhere). This dress is an oldie-but-goodie from H&M and has an artsy-cool print with patches of embroidery and a scoop back with adjustable straps. Perfect piece to just throw on and go.

Slouchy Summer

homepage

Slouchy tees are a staple of summer. And since I tend to get cold indoors with the AC on full-blast, I like to keep good lightweight slouchy cardigan with me to throw on top! This one was a bargain and although it’s a ‘cash’ item, it’ll be in my closet for years to come!
