I had actually been brainstorming for my 4th of July post (it marks Catching Couture’s three year anniversary!) when Farfetch reached out to me about their latest competition asking bloggers to creatively style stars and stripes. I’m always up for a good challenge, so here we go…
Today I’m doing two shades of denim for an easy outfit for some errands around town before heading to Palm Springs tomorrow. The boots were my Rachel Comey sample sale treat and this bag was a Mother’s Day gift and I absolutely love it. Super soft suede, functional patch pockets, and an optional shoulder strap (which I prefer so I can free up an arm). My kid’s got great taste, right? :)
Today marks the last day of school for quite a few. So, to celebrate, here’s a casual outfit perfect for a summer day kickin’ it with my fave old school game, Ms. Pac-Man.
It was strange going from wearing crop tops and skirts to piling on 4 layers and a winter coat. Needless to say, I was not built for 49 degree Minneapolis weather. But aside from the first frigid day, I had a great trip. My absolute favorite part? The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.
When you are attending a bowling birthday party, there is only one right thing to do… dress themed.

I purchased this dress for a number of reasons: (i) I love the zipper and mesh detailing, (ii) It is incredibly well-made for the price point, and (iii) Its thick and stretchy material is super comfortable and makes bra-less look really good! Due to that last reason, it is my choice for a day out and about and I played up its sportiness by wearing it with my new running shoes.
A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of styling the runway trunk show for Minx, a rad new line of tennis apparel, at the Los Angeles Tennis Club. The collection featured bold colors and color blocking, so I carried that theme throughout the accessories (think: loads of chunky acrylic and PVC visors and bags!) and paired knee high socks with heels to keep it sporty-yet-sexy. Now I’d like to look that good while playing tennis!
Oh Trina Turk… your store is so perfect for everything spring and summer. In fact, my latest purchase made me so happy, I decided to throw it on and go sip lemonade poolside.
Today’s handbag and pumps will be key pieces in my wardrobe FOREVER. Are they “credit-worthy” purchases? Definitely. But will they outlive several cycles of less-expensive purchases? Absolutely.
