Consignment Done Right

homepage

Some outfits with extreme high-low combos can only be averaged and categorized as ‘debit’. Well, today’s outfit couldn’t get much higher and lower… I mixed and matched a Preen by Thornton Bregazzi jacket (if you’re not familiar, let’s just say that the 100% cotton hoodie from Preen’s current collection is retailing for a cool $815) with my favorite pair of Payless boots. Yup.

I occasionally browse LA consignment hotspots like Wasteland and Crossroads for surprising designer finds. But even if you’re not in the area (or if you don’t want to leave your couch), there are several luxury consignment sites like Fashionphile, Shop Hers, and The RealReal that have a wide variety of authenticated goods. This outfit features a few of my latest consignment finds…

#1 – The jacket. I can’t even afford to read a price tag on a Preen jacket, but this one was an exception since it was in pristine condition and marked down additionally. I got it for less than 10% of its retail price.

#2 – The high-waisted shorts. Wasteland has a section of brand new/non-consignment clothing from local wholesale clothing lines. I scored these shorts on clearance for $5.

#3 – The bag. These cross body satchels were one of the most popular (and affordable) bags spotted all over NYFW (check out #7, 57, & 58 – it even has Olivia Palermo’s stamp of approval)
